Operational address: 1 Schrier Ropeworks, Arboretum Place, London, United Kingdom, IG11 7FL
UKNAME.UK provides an online ordering and coordination service for .UK domain names, business hosting, web design, Digital Launch Kits, partner services and UK business-start packages. The service description shown on the website is supplemented by the confirmed Order, quotation, payment instruction, the applicable Customer Master Agreement and, where relevant, a Product Agreement Extension or registry-specific agreement.
1. Operator and service-provider structure
The website is operated by UKNAME.UK LTD. UKNAME.UK receives enquiries and service orders, confirms the required scope, coordinates the relevant provider and manages client communication. Some products are provisioned through specialist service providers and registrar infrastructure.
Interaction with Nominet UK for .UK registration, renewal, transfer and related registry operations, together with the associated processing of registration data, is carried out by TwentytwentyMedia Ltd, Registered in England and Wales No. 3730401, VAT Registration No. GB 751 9901 14.
Where an order includes UK compliance Digital Certification for a UK Ltd, the certification service and associated processing of certification data are carried out by Business Certifiation Bureau Ltd, Registered in England and Wales No. 17254091, BCB ICO Registration No. ZC201723.
2. Customer Master Agreement
For services provisioned through the applicable service-provider platform, the Customer Master Agreement governs the general commercial relationship and is supplemented by the Product Agreement Extension for the product ordered.
2.1 Agreement scope, Orders and Product Agreement Extensions
- An Order is a product or service purchased by the Customer and recorded with a unique Order ID in the service-provider system.
- The Customer may purchase multiple products under the Customer Master Agreement. Each specific Customer Product Agreement Extension becomes part of the overall Agreement.
- If a Product Agreement Extension contains a conflicting definition or term, the specific Product Agreement Extension takes precedence for that product.
- The Customer must provide, maintain and update complete and accurate account, contact and Order information and must comply with the applicable provider and service terms.
- Products may be obtained through third-party Service Providers and the technical or contractual structure of a service may change as provider arrangements change.
2.2 Term, renewal and termination
The initial term of an Order is the period shown when the Order is purchased. Under the Customer Master Agreement, an Order may renew for successive periods equal to the initial term unless the Customer elects not to renew and gives the required notice. Where the recurring-payment functionality of the service-provider platform applies, the applicable account or payment method may be charged for renewal. Digital Certificates are excluded from the general auto-renewal provision in the Customer Master Agreement.
- Either Party may terminate the Agreement or a Product Agreement Extension by giving 30 days' notice, subject to the notice provisions in the Agreement.
- Immediate termination may apply in specified insolvency, material breach, material misrepresentation, fraud-related or service-provider termination circumstances.
- On termination, access to the relevant services or management platform may be suspended and pending balances become immediately payable.
- Orders already submitted before termination may continue to be processed where the provider is able to fulfil them and sufficient cleared funds are available; otherwise the applicable charge may be reversed.
2.3 Customer obligations, acceptable use and breach
- The Customer must comply with the Agreement, Product Agreement Extensions and provider policies and must not use the services in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.
- The Customer is responsible for users, agents, employees and authorised representatives using the account or services under the Customer's authority.
- If a breach is suspected, access to products and the management platform may be suspended or terminated in accordance with the Agreement.
- The Customer remains liable for amounts due and for damages caused by breach of the applicable Agreement.
2.4 Intellectual property, confidentiality, taxes, force majeure and assignment
- Each Party continues to own its pre-existing intellectual property. No implied commercial licence is granted merely by disclosure of information or provision of a service.
- The Customer must not use the service to infringe intellectual-property rights or publish unlawful or libellous content.
- Confidential Information is subject to the confidentiality provisions incorporated into the Customer Master Agreement.
- The Customer is responsible for taxes and duties imposed in relation to the Agreement or ordered products where applicable.
- Neither Party is liable for non-performance caused by events beyond reasonable control, subject to the force-majeure provisions of the Agreement.
- The Customer may not assign or sublicense rights or obligations without the required consent. Certain Orders may be transferred where authorised, ordered by a competent authority, or permitted under the Agreement.
3. Domain Registration Agreement
Domain services are subject to the applicable Domain Registration Agreement, the policies of the relevant registry and, for .UK names, Nominet Registrant Terms, Registry Policies and the Nominet Dispute Resolution Service. Domain availability is not guaranteed until the registry accepts the registration request.
3.1 When a domain registration becomes effective
A domain registration becomes effective only after all required conditions are satisfied: the Customer accepts the applicable registration and service terms; the registrar accepts the application; registration, renewal or reinstatement fees are received; and the required registration information is delivered to and accepted by the relevant Registry Administrator.
The registrar does not control every part of registry processing and is not responsible for registration errors caused by incorrect information supplied by the Customer or by the Registry Administrator. Domain registration fees may be non-refundable once committed to the registry or service provider.
3.2 Registration information, accuracy and verification
- The registrant must provide complete and accurate registrant, administrative, technical and billing information required for the relevant TLD or ccTLD.
- Registration data must be kept current. The Domain Registration Agreement requires updates within 7 days of a change where the applicable ICANN-based rule applies.
- The registrar may retain registration dates, order and modification records, payment records, nameserver data, expiry information and other records relating to the domain and associated services.
- Where registrant verification applies, the Registered Name Holder's email address or changed contact information must be verified within the specified verification period. Failure to complete required verification may result in suspension of the domain and associated services.
- If third-party personal data is provided as part of a registration, the Customer represents that the person has been informed and the required consent has been obtained.
3.3 Domain privacy, registry disclosure and communications
Where a Domain Privacy service is available and purchased, public registration data may be replaced with privacy-contact information, but the Customer remains responsible for keeping the underlying registration information complete and accurate. Privacy service does not remove the registrant's responsibility for the domain or for resolving claims relating to it.
Registration information may be disclosed to the relevant registry, ICANN where applicable, service providers, courts, law-enforcement authorities or other parties where required by the applicable registry policy, legal process or service agreement. For .UK domain names, the specific Nominet data-publication and disclosure rules apply.
3.4 Renewal, expiry and domain parking
- The Customer is responsible for ensuring that domain names and associated services are renewed before expiry.
- Renewal reminders may be provided as a convenience but do not transfer renewal responsibility from the Customer.
- Where an agreed auto-renewal method applies, the registrar may attempt renewal using the payment method on file; failure of the payment method may result in non-renewal.
- Expired domains may be placed on an expired or parking page and may be subject to the applicable registry's expiry, grace, suspension, deletion and transfer rules.
- For .UK domains, the Nominet-specific lifecycle and renewal rules described on the Nominet .UK page apply.
3.5 Change of registrant and transfers
Changes to the registrant or transfers between registrars are subject to the policy of the applicable TLD or ccTLD. For ICANN-governed gTLDs, a change of registrant may require confirmation by the prior and new registrant or their Designated Agent and may trigger a transfer lock. Transfer requests may be refused where the registration has expired, authorisation is incomplete, a dispute is pending or a court/registry restriction applies.
For country-code domains, including .UK, registry-specific transfer procedures take precedence over generic ICANN transfer rules.
3.6 Domain disputes, unlawful use and termination
The Customer must ensure, before registration and during use, that the domain does not infringe third-party rights and is not used for unlawful activity, unsolicited email or conduct prohibited by the applicable registry policy. A domain may be suspended, cancelled, transferred or modified to correct registry/registrar errors, comply with a dispute decision or court order, or address a material breach.
For .UK names, disputes concerning abusive registration or ownership are handled under Nominet's Dispute Resolution Service. Other TLDs may be subject to UDRP, URS or another registry-specific dispute process.
4. Customer Hosting Product Agreement Extension
Web, VPS, email and WordPress hosting are subject to the Hosting Product Agreement Extension and the technical specification of the Order. Shared-hosting resources described as “unlimited” remain subject to technical controls needed to protect the stability and integrity of the platform.
4.1 Shared-resource controls
The hosting provider may apply hard limits to a resource where required to prevent degradation, protect service stability, respond to a breach or threatened breach, or avoid legal or operational risk.
- Use of more than 25% of system resources — including memory, CPU, disk, network or bandwidth — for more than 90 seconds in a consecutive six-hour period is prohibited by the Hosting Product Agreement Extension.
- Long-running unattended server processes, bots or daemons, IRC software, P2P clients/trackers, file-sharing services and resource-intensive processes that degrade service are prohibited.
- Cron jobs may not be configured at intervals of less than 15 minutes under the attached hosting terms.
4.2 Web and email hosting limits
- Hosting may not be used primarily as a backup/storage device or for gaming servers.
- An account may not store more than 100,000 files, more than two website backup files, or more than 5GB per database under the attached hosting extension.
- MySQL queries longer than 15 seconds are prohibited.
- More than 50% of the hosting disk allocation may not be used for email storage.
- Multi-domain hosting packages may not be subdivided and resold; they are intended for sites owned by one Customer or company.
- Email limits include no more than 100 messages per hour per user and 300 messages per hour per domain under the attached hosting extension.
- Unsolicited mail, malicious email, invalid-recipient abuse and automated promotional sending through ordinary mailbox services may result in immediate restriction or suspension.
4.3 Prohibited content and activities
The Hosting Product Agreement Extension prohibits use of the service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, infringing or technically harmful activity. The listed examples include malware, brute-force tools, spam scripts, pirated or warez content, proxy/anonymizer services, file-dump services, certain high-risk investment or pyramid schemes, illegal controlled-substance sales, hateful or harassment-oriented content, hacker archives and sites promoting illegal activity.
The provider may suspend or restrict a hosting Order where use breaches these terms, threatens the platform, creates abuse complaints or exposes the provider or Service Providers to liability.
4.4 WordPress Hosting
- Managed WordPress Hosting is intended for the WordPress platform and non-WordPress applications are unsupported.
- Customers should confirm compatibility of specialised WordPress add-ons with Technical Support before installation.
- Domains hosted on the WordPress Hosting platform must use the prescribed UKNAME.UK nameservers where required by the service configuration.
- The provider may refuse configuration changes that would materially inhibit server performance.
- Use of WordPress is also subject to the applicable Automattic terms and privacy policy referenced by the Hosting Product Agreement Extension.
5. Privacy and data handling
UKNAME.UK and the applicable Service Providers process information required to operate accounts, respond to enquiries, deliver services, maintain platform security and comply with registry, contractual and legal obligations.
5.1 Information collected
Information may be collected when a Customer registers, uses products or services, accesses partner services or communicates through the platform. The attached privacy terms identify account information, messages and content sent through the services, IP address, cookie information, browser/device attributes and requested pages among the information that may be recorded.
Cookies may be used to identify the browser, store preferences, understand usage trends and improve service operation. Some functionality may not operate correctly if cookies are disabled.
5.2 Purposes of processing and information sharing
- Communicating with Customers and responding to requests.
- Providing and simplifying use of the services.
- Auditing, research and analysis used to maintain, protect and improve services.
- Ensuring the technical functioning of networks and protecting rights, property and users.
- Developing services and performing obligations described in the applicable service terms and Customer Master Agreement.
Personal information may be shared with subsidiaries, affiliates, trusted processors or Service Providers where needed to provide the service, and may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce service terms, prevent fraud or security issues, or protect rights and safety. The attached privacy terms state that contact information is not sold for spam purposes.
5.3 Information security and access
Security measures include controls intended to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. Access to personal information is restricted to personnel, contractors and agents who need the information to operate or improve the services and who are subject to confidentiality obligations.
Customers may request access to and correction of personal information in accordance with the applicable Privacy Policy and legal requirements. The detailed UK GDPR information remains available on the Privacy & UK GDPR page.
6. Payments, Advance Account, pricing and refunds
The public UKNAME.UK website does not take payment directly. After an Order is confirmed and the required client-identification stage is complete, an individual payment link or bank-payment instruction may be provided through the Client Portal. Depending on the confirmed Order, payment may be made through Stripe, Visa/Mastercard, PayPal, UK Faster Payments or UK bank wire.
6.1 Provider-platform payment terms
Where a service is provisioned through the service-provider OrderBox/Customer Control Panel, an Advance Account may be used. Orders are debited at the then-current price and an Order may not be processed if the available balance is insufficient.
- Payments are accepted only by methods specified in the applicable Customer Control Panel or payment instruction.
- Bank charges, processing charges and other applicable charges may be deducted before a payment is credited.
- Chargebacks or reversed payments may result in immediate suspension of account access or affected Orders, additional processing charges and recovery of negative balances.
- Pricing may exclude taxes, surcharges and other costs and may be changed with the notice required by the applicable Agreement.
- Refunds of a clear Advance Account balance, where available, may be reduced by bank and processing charges. The attached Customer Master Agreement states that processing may take up to 14 Business Days.
More detail on the commercial payment flow used by this website is set out on the Payments page.
7. Liability, indemnification, disputes and governing terms
7.1 Limitation of liability
The Customer Master Agreement and Domain Registration Agreement contain limitations of liability for loss of domain registration or use, interruption of business, access delays, non-delivery or mis-delivery of data, service interruption, force-majeure events and indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses. Where the applicable product agreement contains a specific liability cap, that cap applies to the relevant Order subject to mandatory law.
The Domain Registration Agreement separately limits liability relating to suspension or loss of a domain, use by authorised or unauthorised persons, denial-of-service or access interruption, data corruption or non-delivery, registry processing and application of a dispute policy.
7.2 Customer indemnification
The contractual materials require the Customer to indemnify the applicable provider, Service Providers, Registry Administrators and related parties against qualifying third-party claims arising from breach of the Agreement, infringement of intellectual-property rights, operation or use of an Order/domain, negligent acts or other claims connected with the Customer's use of the services.
7.3 Complaints, dispute resolution and governing law
Service questions should first be raised through UKNAME.UK support or the Client Portal so the relevant Order can be identified and reviewed. Domain disputes are handled under the dispute procedure applicable to the TLD or ccTLD. For .UK domains, Nominet's Dispute Resolution Service applies.
The attached domain-registration terms provide for substantive English law for the relevant registrar agreement, subject to the applicable Dispute Policy and any mandatory jurisdictional rule. The Customer Master Agreement also contains governing-law, jurisdiction, notice, waiver, severability and entire-agreement provisions. Where the operator agreement, registrar agreement or registry policy contains a more specific rule for a particular service, that specific rule applies to that service.
8. Digital Certification
Where an order includes UK compliance Digital Certification, the certification scope is selected for the commercial purpose and evidence depth required. The available pathway includes Identity Verified, Business Verified, Compliance Ready and, where ongoing monitoring is selected, Trusted Business. Certification confirms only the defined scope reviewed. It is not a credit rating, legal opinion, regulatory approval or guarantee that a bank, payment provider, supplier or other recipient will accept the applicant.
9. Orders and formation of the service agreement
Submitting a website form is a request for service and does not itself create an obligation to deliver or to pay. The service agreement is formed when the scope, price, applicable contractual documents and required information have been confirmed and the client accepts the Order or quotation. Where identity, registrant verification or supporting evidence is required, activation may be conditional on successful completion of that stage.
