Payments & Billing
Payment model: confirmed order → client identification → individual payment instruction in Client Portal
UKNAME.UK does not request payment through the public order form. The purpose of the public form is to identify the service required and collect the information needed to prepare the order. Payment is requested only after the order scope, price and required client-identification stage have been confirmed.
1. Available payment methods
- Stripe: individual secure payment link supplied for the confirmed order.
- Visa / Mastercard: card payment through the payment processor shown in the individual link; additional cardholder authentication such as 3-D Secure may be required.
- PayPal: where offered for the confirmed order, payment is completed in the PayPal environment.
- UK Faster Payments: bank-payment instructions and an order reference are supplied individually.
- UK bank wire: bank details, currency and payment reference are supplied only with the confirmed order or invoice.
2. Individual payment instruction
The payment link or bank details are provided in the Client Portal after the service has been reviewed. Clients should use only payment instructions issued for their own order and should not reuse bank details or links from an earlier transaction without confirmation.
3. Amount, currency and taxes
The amount, currency and any applicable tax treatment are stated in the accepted quotation, order confirmation, invoice or payment instruction. Where a payment network or bank performs currency conversion, its own exchange rate and charges may apply independently of UKNAME.UK.
4. When an order is treated as paid
A card or wallet transaction is treated as paid when the payment provider confirms successful settlement. A bank transfer is treated as paid when cleared funds are received and matched to the order reference. A screenshot or payment initiation message does not by itself prove final settlement.
5. Card and wallet security
Card credentials are entered into the selected payment provider's payment environment rather than the public UKNAME.UK order form. The payment provider may apply its own fraud screening, cardholder authentication, limits, sanctions controls or refusal criteria. UKNAME.UK receives the transaction status and the information reasonably needed to reconcile the order.
6. Bank payments
For Faster Payments or bank wire, the client must use the beneficiary details and reference supplied for the specific order. Bank processing times, correspondent-bank deductions and sending-bank fees are outside UKNAME.UK's control. If the amount received is short because of bank charges or currency conversion, the balance may need to be settled before activation.
7. Activation after payment
Payment does not remove service-specific requirements. A domain, company service, hosting package, website project or Digital Certification begins when the confirmed payment and the information/evidence required for that component are available. Registry or provider acceptance can still be required after payment.
8. Invoices and receipts
The client should keep the order confirmation, invoice, provider receipt and bank/payment reference. These records identify the service and are used for reconciliation, support and any refund or dispute review.
9. Failed, reversed or disputed payments
If a payment is declined, reversed, charged back or cannot be matched to the order, service activation may be held or an active service may be restricted where continued delivery would create an unpaid balance. Clients should contact UKNAME.UK promptly if a transaction appears incorrect so the order and provider records can be reviewed.
10. Cancellations and refunds
A cancellation request should be made as soon as possible. Refundability depends on the stage reached. Third-party charges can become committed when a domain registration, company service, certificate review, licence, hosting service or other external transaction is submitted or activated. Where the underlying transaction cannot be reversed, the corresponding cost may be non-refundable. Bespoke work already performed may be deducted from any refund. Approved refunds are normally returned through the original method where the provider permits.
11. Renewals
Annual services require renewal to continue. The renewal amount and payment instruction are communicated before the relevant renewal. Unless the confirmed service expressly states otherwise, the presence of a stored customer account does not itself authorise UKNAME.UK to debit a payment method without the required payment instruction or renewal process.
12. Fraud prevention and client identification
UKNAME.UK or the relevant provider may request identity, authority, address, company or payment-related evidence where reasonably required to protect the service, prevent fraud or meet provider obligations. A payment can be held for review or returned if the order cannot be accepted.
13. Payment providers
Stripe, card networks, PayPal and banks provide their payment services under their own terms and privacy notices. Their processing decisions, transaction limits, exchange rates and bank charges are outside UKNAME.UK's control. The Privacy Policy explains how payment-related information is handled in connection with a UKNAME.UK order.
